How Christian EFT can unlock barriers and bring you into a body, soul, and spirit wholeness
Understanding Emotional Freedom Technique (aka EFT or "tapping")
You might be asking, what exactly is “EFT”?
When I first personally encountered EFT, I thought it was weird and strange. I didn’t want to get into anything that wasn’t of the Lord or Biblical so I just let it sit for awhile.
I’m a researcher of all things physical, emotional, and spiritual healing and this kept coming up. I read over 20+ books on the matter, discussed with Jesus, talked with practitioners, received many sessions myself, and really dug deep in order to learn more. And in the process of getting certified in Clinical EFT, I saw how incredible our breakthroughs can be!
The Emotional Freedom Techniques, or EFT, is the psychological acupressure technique that I now routinely use in my coaching practice and most highly recommend to optimize your emotional, mental, and physical health. Although it is still often overlooked, emotional health is absolutely essential to your physical health and healing — no matter how devoted you are to the proper diet and lifestyle, you will not achieve your body’s ideal healing and preventative powers if emotional barriers stand in your way.
What I’ve discovered is that God loves healing! And partnered with prayer, this method is nothing short of amazing.
I’ve been doing inner healing, deliverance, Sozo, Immanuel prayer, holistic health coaching, and mindset coaching for many years and adding the full range of Emotional Freedom Techniques (aka “tapping”) has allowed me to help bring a powerful body, soul, and spirit breakthrough.
The breakthroughs I’ve both experienced personally and seen have been such a beautiful gift.
It also happens to be one of the top most effective, clinically studied techniques to help
And my passion is to bring freedom so that YOU can walk in all that God has called you to!
In essence, what EFT is is the release of physical and emotional pain through acknowledging its presence while verbally stating that you unconditionally accept and love yourself even in the midst of this pain and pressure.
So the therapy is taking place in the presence of healing LOVE rather than destructive self-judgment.
As you repeat these statements, you are gently tapping on several acupuncture points around your head and chest, with the goal of interrupting the negatively programmed energy flow, thus dismantling the learned fight/flight emotional response, which in turn allows positive emotions to come forth.
Jesus demonstrated that energy is conducted through touch, by laying on hands as He healed. Jesus, and those He touched, could sense the flow of God’s healing energy through touch (Mk. 5:28-34).
We know that thoughts and feelings of worry, pain, anxiety, fear, shame, frustration, anger, envy, bad memories and stressful events are damaging to your mind, body and soul.
The good news is that you can quickly learn this technique to clear out the negative emotions and make room for positive, joy-filled living.
Christian EFT is easy to learn and easy to practice. I invite you to experience the changes that using Christian EFT will bring. It will allow you to experience God’s healing and grace in a completely new way and will open your spirit to receive His solutions to life’s problems.
You will learn how to allow Him to release you from the addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors that hold you back from the authentic joy and peace that can be yours.

EFT is Clinically Research Backed
A big question we all ask as we venture into something new is:
Is it compatible with Scripture? Is it safe and effective?
And has it been researched?
To each of these, the answer is a great big YES.
There are a lot of scientific and clinical studies that have now been done with Emotional Freedom Techniques.

Frequently Asked Christian Questions
Sherrie Rice Smith, RN, author of EFT for Christians, has compiled a very helpful set of questions.
She is an incredible person, God-fearing, Bible believing Christian, as well as a retired RN with a long history of understanding the intricacies of science and the body.
Since I couldn’t have said her answers any better, I am including her responses to these very commonly asked questions. The short answers are in parenthesis, but I encourage you to download the PDF as there are some very beautiful and encouraging answers.
In the PDF document below, you’ll find the answers to the following questions:
- Are energy healing therapies like EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) considered “new age”? (Short answer is no. New Age beliefs espouse being “like God” whereby we consider ourselves part of His creative force or to participate in the process as one who is equal to God. This is what Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden when they believed Satan’s temptation (Gen. 3:5). In contrast, Christian EFT instead acknowledges God as the Creator and God of the universe, sole Healer, and Provider, and we as the creatures, made and cared for by Him …)
- Is EFT connected to Eastern religion since we are discussing chakras, meridians, acupuncture points? (Short answer is no, we are not discussing chakras or Eastern religion …)
- Is EFT is connected to the occult? (No, definitely not. The practice of EFT fits nothing whatsoever within the definition of occult. EFT tapping has no secret content. It is pure science based upon God’s design of our anatomy …)
- Does EFT open one up to evil or demonic spirits? (Absolutely not! This is an easy misconception to dispel. EFT does the exact opposite! Tapping brings us closer to our Lord. Satan destroys. God heals. Utilizing Christian EFT, we’re more fully equipped to receive healing in body, soul, and spirit so we can continue in the Will of God …)
- Does EFT really work? (There are now over 100 clinical studies, based in psychology, neurology, biology, and peer-reviewed scientific literature. EFT, when done thoroughly, can change, repair, and ameliorate the emotional damage, but we must, according to God’s sanctification plan, use the tools He has given us …)
- What’s the difference between Christian EFT vs. EFT seen on the internet? (Our relationship with our Lord is of utmost priority in our lives. We must do everything in our human power to keep that relationship open and intact. Confession, repentance, and forgiveness are some of those tools. Adding tapping that heals our emotional hurts to those spiritual tools makes for a very powerful combination …)
- How does EFT interrelate with the teaching of the Bible and how did you come to that conclusion? (I don’t say EFT is Biblical in the strictest sense because as with all other modern ideas, such as motorized vehicular travel, electricity, medicine and all other inventions that make this the 21st century, none of these things are mentioned directly in Scriptures. EFT “interrelates” to the Bible is a couple of ways … for example, would you say a mechanic, lawyer, or doctor are “Biblical”?)
- Why do we tap at all? Isn’t prayer enough? (Healing comes in many different forms. Some need spiritual healing; others search for emotional, physical, or mental healing …)
- What are the psychological reasons for not being able to stop living in the past? (Old painful emotional memories are wired into our brain. God created it that way to help us to remember necessary survival lessons …)
- Why don’t positive affirmations work? (Positive affirmations alone rarely help because underneath in the subconscious mind resides some NEGATIVE belief that overrides the positive …)
Diving Even Deeper ...
Below, you’ll find a few more insights from well-respected people in this field.
Dr. Peta Stapleton shares on the latest science of EFT tapping. Dr Peta Stapleton, is a clinical and health psychologist and world researcher in EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or Tapping. In 2019 Dr Peta was named Psychologist of the Year by the Australian Allied Health Awards, for her research contributions in EFT Tapping.
Dr. Jim Richards shares about EFT from a Biblical Christian perspective. He aids us in understanding tools used for freedom. “None of the tools I use replace the Word of God; instead, they simply work with the way God created our body and soul to facilitate and prepare us to experience the life of God unhindered.”
Sherrie Rice Smith, RN, author of “EFT for Christians” and Clinical EFT practitioner shares on the physiological effects of EFT and how powerful it is as a healing tool for Christians. More of her material can be found at EFTforChristians.com as well as on YouTube.com
A Great Article: Addressing Christian Concerns About EFT and Energy Psychology Therapies
By Dr. Larry Nims
The human body shares in the dignity of “the image of God”: it is a human body precisely because it is animated by a spiritual soul, and it is the whole human person that is intended to become, in the body of Christ, a temple of the Spirit. Man, though made of body and soul, is a unity. Through his very bodily condition he sums up in himself the elements of the material world. Through him they are thus brought to their highest perfection and can raise their voice in praise freely given to the Creator. For this reason man may not despise his bodily life. Rather he is obliged to regard his body as good and to hold it in honor since God has created it and will raise it up on the last day.
The unity of soul and body is so profound that one has to consider the soul to be the “form” of the body: i.e., it is because of its spiritual soul that the body made of matter becomes a living, human body; spirit and matter, in man, are not two natures united, but rather their union forms a single nature.
